Medicare Open Enrollment Period
The Medicare open enrollment period occurs October 15 – December 7 and is your opportunity to enroll in or make changes to a Medicare health plan. During this time, it is important to evaluate your Medicare options and determine what plan works best for you.
Some things to consider when choosing your plan:
- The cost of premiums, visits to the doctor's office and hospital stays
- What doctors are within your health plan’s network? Is your doctor in the network?
- Are your prescription medications covered by the plan? How much they will cost?
- At what pharmacies will you be able to get your prescriptions? Will you be able to receive them through the mail?
- Will you need a referral if you have to visit a specialty physician such as a gastroenterologist or cardiologist?
- The quality rating of your plan. You can find this information by visiting the National Committee for Quality Assurance’s Health Plan Rating Report
- Ensure that Temecula Valley Hospital is in the health plan’s network. Choosing a plan that does not include Temecula Valley Hospital may mean that you will have to go to a different hospital or pay out of pocket for services
